The boss shown in photos is the 18 gauge stainless steel version, this listing is for the 14 gauge mild steel version - same design but thicker and has a dull finish. 9/20/19 back in stock, limited quantity.
Now available with a larger dome for armored hands, this shield boss is ideal for the re-enactor crafting his own wooden shield.
The 14 gauge stainless steel bosses are spun and then polished to remove the spinning marks before being pre-drilled for attachment to the shield.
Boss inner diameter 6 5/8" x 3 7/8" deep, outer diameter 9.25" Pre-drilled for attachment.
Over twice the weight (1 lb, 12 ounces) of the 18 gauge stainless steel version, and about the same strength with different materials. Slightly less expensive.
